Ares The Greek God of War

Ares The Greek god of War

Shadaun Brown, DESTON Hinds, Keith Fing

          Family history

Ares is the only son of Zeus and Hera. His sister Eris, the goddess of strife is his constant companion. His sons Deimos and Phobos, as well as the old goddess of war Enyo usually accompany him. When Ares was wounded (even as an immortal) he would run to his father Zeus. He was disliked by both parents and was thrown off Mount Olympus for his hatefulness.

Description

Ares, the Greek god of war, is tall and handsome, but vain and cruel. When Ares heard battle he put on his gleaming helmet, and kept into his war chariot, with his sword, he rushed into the thick of battle, unconcerned who won or lasted long as blood wad shed. Flucicious crowd follow at him, carrying with them pain, panic, famine, and oblivion.

Ares was mainly worshiped in Thracian, a region known for it’s fierce people, and a Spartan God of war. Ares seemed to have no other interest than war (except for fleeing with his brother’s wife.) Hercules sought his half-brother Ares’ help.  Hating Hercules’ blustering manner and close relationship with Zeus, Ares refused, but the Agrarian thunder god Thor helped release Hercules from Pluto’s contract.  Later, Ares and Agrarian sorceress Amoral the Enchantress tricked Hercules into drinking from the Fountain of Eros, compelling him to fall madly in love with Amoral.  The Enchantress pitted Hercules against the Avengers, who soon released him from her spell; however, Ares had already convinced Zeus that Hercules had renounced his Olympian heritage for the love of an Agrarian, and Zeus banished Hercules from Olympus for a year.

                  Roman Style Of Life

One of the first things the Romans did was to involve the conquered tribes in the administration of the province.  Romans encouraged the growth of towns. They saw urban life as the epitome of sophisticated civilization.  Every town had pubic baths. They were open to both sexes, though at different times of day, and served as a combination health club, healing spa, and meeting place.

Roman encouraged the growth of towns near their army bases, and established special towns as settlement for retired soldiers. They encouraged the ruling class of Celtic aristocrats to build town dwellings, and they made the towns Centres of vibrant commercial activity. The baths were a Roman institution, and most town dwellers would have attended daily before their evening meal. The Romans built towns in lowland areas, such as at fords across rivers, in contrast to the earlier Neolithic and Iron Age practice of sticking to the slopes and higher ground above the valleys. Town boundaries, unlike military forts, were not laid out in rigid rectangles or squares, but they did contain a regular grid-like network of streets.

                  Egyptian Style of Life

Peasant girls usually married around the age 12, the boys were a few years older than the girls. Girls of more affluent families married a few years older. Parents of the children arranged the marriages although some young people chose their own spouse. While the ordinary man normally had one wife, the kings always had several. Before the marriage ceremony, the couple signed an agreement. Divorce was an option, although it was not common. If a husband treated his wife badly, she would go to her family for help. The wife's family would try to persuade her spouse to change his behavior. If his behavior did not improve the divorce took place.

Everyone in Egypt wore some type of jewelry. Rings and amulets were especially worn to ward off the evil spirits and injury. Both men and women wore pierced earrings, armlets, bracelets, and anklets. The rich wore jeweled or beaded collars, called a wesekh, necklaces, and pendants. For the rich, jewelry was made of gold, silver, or electrum gold mixed with silver) and inlaid with semi-precious stones of turquoise, lapis lazuli (a deep blue stone), and carnelian (a copper or reddish orange stone).

Egyptian clothing styles did not change much throughout ancient times. Clothes were usually made of linens ranging from coarse to fine texture. During the Old and Middle kingdoms, men usually wore a short skirt called a kilt. Women wore a straight fitting dress held up by straps. The wealthy men wore pleated kilts, and the older men wore a longer kilt. When doing hard work, men wore a loin cloth, and women wore a short skirt.

Children usually ran around nude during the summer months, while in the winter, wraps and cloaks were worn. Noblewomen sometimes wore beaded dresses.

The Stone Age

By Rashon, Fahrad, Nathaniel, and Kevon

The Stone Age is part of the history of the world that encompasses the first wide spread use of technology in human evolution and the spared of humanity from the savannas of east Africa to the rest of the world.

It ends with the development or agriculture, the domestication of certain animals and that smelling of copper or to produce metal. It is termed prehistoric; since humanity has not get startled writing the traditional start of history i.e. records history The Stone Age receives its name from the fact that most human tools preserved from that area are made of stone. Although undoubtedly tools of wood and animal parts such as bone and sinews were also in use these were rarely preserved.

           Stone age hunting and gathering

One of the markers of historical progress has been the ability of a people or culture t0o work metal and its alloys. Primitive people used hard things to cut and slice and to tip their arrows, the most suitable material being stone and animals bones. Prior to the discover that would serve better such cultures are typically divided into Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic for old stone, middle stone and new stone.

                                Stone Age Food

During the Paleolithic period of the Stone Age, humans were hunter-gathers whose diet foods included both the animals and plants that were part of their natural environment. Fossil evidence from groups of hunter-gatherers suggests that the daily diet was derived primarily from animal based foods. In particular, they enjoyed animal organ meats like the liver, kidneys, and brains - meat-foods that are extremely rich sources of nutrition. Stone Age humans didn't consume much dairy food, nor did they eat high carbohydrate foods such as legumes or yeast-containing foods, or cereal grains.

                            Egyptian Life

The people of ancient Egypt built mud brick homes in villages and in the country they grew some of their own food and traded in the villages for the food and goods they could not produce. Most ancient Egyptians worked as field hands, former craftsmen and scribes. A small group of people was nobles to gather, these different group of people were nobles together, these different groups of people made up the population of ancient Egypt.

                           Stone Age Tools

Some sections of the ax surfaces are almost as smooth as some silicon wafers used to make computer chips, says Peter Lu, a physicist at Harvard University. "Somehow, Stone Age people . . . were able to make something smooth enough that you could pattern a circuit on it," he says. In an attempt to discover how the polishing was done, Lu obtained four ceremonial burial axes from the tombs of  two Neolithic Chinese societies—the Liangzhu culture and the Sanxingcun culture—that once inhabited parts of southern China near what is now Shanghai. The stone axes had been dated by others to between 4000 and 2500 B.C.
